Empowering kids to be safe. Supporting adults to have the conversation.

For parents & caring adults.

Teaching kids how to be safe in an ever changing world is a huge task for parents, families, and caring adults. Figuring out how to have trauma informed, developmentally appropriate conversations with kids to make sure they know how to keep themselves safe is a challenge. Sammy & Friends stories provide a way for caring adults to have guided conversations, through imaginative storytelling, on how to be safe when emergencies happen.

For schools.

Teaching emergency drills through the approach of Sammy & Friends provides a soft introduction to what can be scary topics for kids to learn and adults to teach.

  • “Within the first few pages, kids are taken away to a magical land, teaching them how to feel safe in a very calm and peaceful way. This book is a wonderful resource for preschool and elementary teachers, as well as parents, to help facilitate those difficult but real conversations needed about staying safe at school. “

Lindsay Omeg, Mother of Five and Teacher

  • “In over a decade of working with elementary school-aged children, Sammy & Friends’ approach is the first that made me feel confident about discussing school violence with young children.”

Luke Vieira, Principal of Colonel Wright Elementary School

  • Sammy the Sasquatch children’s book is a wonderful opportunity to read a fun story with your child and at the same time open up a dialogue about safety. It is a creative way to address both real and imagined threats that children may experience. My daughter loved learning about the characters and how to join in on Lockdown; locks, lights, out of sight! I was impressed by the parental guidance on how to communicate with her about these issues in a trauma-informed way! 10/10 would recommend!!
